Video Production

Video Production
The demand for online video continues to grow. Cheap, quality cameras make it easy to capture video. However, the work required to take raw footage and make a finished video is beyond the capability of many organizations.

Dan Torchia solves this problem with video services for organizations that don’t have the capacity to do it themselves or the resources to pay for high-end production. Available services depend on the project, but common examples include the samples below.

Editing User-Created Video
Business consultant Warren Wandling shot this clip using the video mode on a quality consumer digital camera. Once completed, I edited the piece for continuity and added screen text based on his script.

This is an effective strategy because the content is most important, and not any production tricks that would dress the video up. Like many people, Warren has enough technical skill to set up a camera and record himself. On its own, the content would have been fine, but the additional work makes this piece even more effective and enforces the message he wants to convey.

Editing Professional Video
Some projects require using a professional videographer. Mid-America Arts Alliance hosted a panel discussion featuring the chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts. Because the program featured four panelists and included an audience Q&A, MAAA hired a video firm for a multi-camera shoot.

After the shoot, I received the video files and edited the entire program into parts so they could be posted on YouTube. Work included editing for length and clarity, and adding screen text based on the panel remarks.

Full Video Production
For an online video that doesn’t require a lot of production tricks, I can be a cost-effective alternative to full-service video houses. For Mid-America Arts Alliance, I performed all services for a video that documented a training program.

This included concept, messaging, recording, editing and music composition. The only outside resources needed were camera and lavalier mics, both of which were rented.
